In 2010 Alan’s work in the offshore renewables industry began, working for Tekmar Energy as Projects Manager. This saw him spend time offshore on cable installation vessels viewing first hand the challenges faced by the industry. Alan then moved on to Reef Subsea and delivered an array cable installation project, Centrica-Lincs. After this, Alan project managed the build of Reef’s jet-trencher Q1000 from SMD.

In 2013 Alan moved to Technip Offshore Wind to project manage the array cable installation on the Borkum West project. It was here that Alan experienced some of the biggest challenges of his career and learnt lessons which have proved invaluable in subsequent projects.

Over the last few years Alan has been providing contract project management services to EON on Humber Gateway and Rampion offshore wind farms, and also to Jan De Nul on the development and build of new trencher tools.  Alan gained valuable export/interconnector installation experience while providing project management services to SSE in their submarine cables project team.  Currently, amongst other things, Alan is providing package management services to an offshore wind farm in France concerning the supply and installation of array cables.
